The internet is getting a new type of user.

For three decades, the internet was built for people. Humans browsed websites, clicked buttons, searched, subscribed. Every product decision assumed a person on the other end.

That assumption is breaking. AI agents and automated workflows now consume software directly, at scale, around the clock. They are becoming a customer segment — one that behaves nothing like the customers companies know.

Agents don't browse. They call.

An agent never sees your homepage. It doesn't read your marketing copy or admire your design. It calls APIs. It invokes tools. It retrieves structured data and executes workflows.

Everything companies built to persuade humans is invisible to this customer. What it can see — and pay for — is capability, exposed in the right shape.

Your most valuable products may already exist.

Companies accumulate datasets, internal APIs, research, models, risk engines, calculators, and workflows as a byproduct of operating. These assets were built to support the business — never priced, never packaged, never sold.

To an agent, many of them are exactly what it needs. The product work isn't invention. It's recognition.

Packaging is the hard part — not technology.

The infrastructure for agent commerce already exists and improves monthly. Protocols, payments, and tooling are solved problems being solved better every quarter.

What isn't solved: knowing what to sell, to whom, at what price, and in what shape. That is strategy work, and it comes before any implementation. Companies that skip it ship APIs nobody calls.

Demand should be proven before anything is built.

The graveyard of developer platforms is full of well-engineered products that nobody wanted. The agent economy will produce its own graveyard, faster.

The discipline that prevents this is old and unglamorous: identify the buyer, talk to them, show them sample output, and get a signal before writing code. We treat validation as a phase, not an afterthought.

Early is a strategy.

Every platform shift — web, mobile, cloud — rewarded companies that repackaged what they already had for the new channel while competitors waited for certainty.

The agent economy is early. That's precisely why the opportunity exists. Positioning compounds; waiting doesn't.
